The Leading International Mining and Minerals Recovery Exhibition and Conference - Mining Vietnam 2012 will be held from 7 – 9 March 2012 at the International Center for Exhibition in Hanoi. Vietnam is well endowed with a wide variety of quality mineral deposits. There are some 200 coal mines with a total reserve of almost 7 billion tons. Other exciting mineral potential includes: iron ore, chromites, copper, tin, wolfram, gold, lead, zinc, uranium, antimony, rare earth, gems, limestone and clay.

To meet Vietnam’s growth targets Vinacomin are implementing a series of projects to expand capacity and open new mines:

Increasing coal production from 45 million tons in 2009 to 56 million by 2015 with 50% from underground mines.

US$180 million investment in 6 gold mines,

US$340 million investment in 7 copper mines,

US$200 million investment in 3 nickel mines.

Exploration, Exploitation and processing of serpentin, barite, graphite, fluorite, bentonite, diatomite and talc with a total investment of US$180 million.
